School governors are people who want to make a positive contribution to children’s education and have an important part to play in raising school standards. The role of the governing body is to provide strategic leadership and accountability in schools. . Governors hold the main responsibility for finance in schools, they work with the headteacher to ensure that children, staff and parents are treated in accordance with the law and regulations laid down by the authorities.

If you wish to contact our Governors, please write to for the attention of the Chair Of Governors, Mrs Carol Swaisland, alternately you can approach a parent governor or send in a letter.

There are a number of different Governors -  parent, co-opted, staff and Local Authority.  When a parent governor vacancy arises, all parents are informed and given the opportunity to volunteer, in the event that more than one parent volunteers, an election is held.

School governors and trustees have a number of responsibilities:

We act as critical friends for the school.
We attend meetings on a regular basis.
We visit classes and take part in assemblies alongside the children.
We are members of various committees: Staffing Personnel & Finance; Standards, Teaching & Learning; Safeguarding,Health and Safety & Premises. At the current time and in order to maximise the effectiveness and efficiency of meetings the committees are all held as one meeting with Carol Swaisland as the Chair and Tracy Woods as Vice-Chair
