Year 4: Mrs Swain 2018 - 2019

Miss Swain

Hello I’m Mrs Swain, the class teacher, we have a student teacher (Miss Fairclough) and our Learning Assistant is Mrs McTomney. We all welcome you back as we continue year four towards Easter!

We want your child to be a successful, independent, wise-thinking and motivated learner and hope you feel your child is happily continuing on their journey to achieve this. Our classroom is an organised and fun-filled environment which holds many opportunities for your child to access their own resources and initiate their own learning to allow their learning to be fantastic. We are always heading, 'Straight to the TOP!'

As well as being given a flow of curriculum learning sessions, the children will continue to have spelling, handwriting and reading sessions throughout the day. We are also ensuring the children have begun to work daily on mindfulness for self-worth and raising of self-esteem, BEAT THAT and 100 CLUB Times Tables challenges and we will again be experiencing a DT skills week this half term  (cooking) to really boost the learning and pleasure in our creative areas.

In addition we will be enjoying external learning at the Synagogue in March.

Each half term we focus on a particular history theme as well as a geography theme, which are ANCIENT EGYPT in History and ST HELENS VS LIVERPOOL until February. Each half term we also celebrate the success of our houses with house rewards, we have enhancement days also and of course, visits to enhance learning. We hope you can join us at our assembly on Friday afternoons, 2:50pm to celebrate successes with us.

We recognise and value the contribution you can make to your child’s learning at home and as a result send home regular homework pyramids, number challenges, English skills, spellings, reading and tables practise. Please look at the attached files and locate spellings in your child's blue diary planner.

Currently Mrs Lewis is teaching Music (Clarinet) on Mondays.

We have running, jumping and throwing (P.E.) on Tuesday and tennis (P.E.) on Thursday.

Mrs Brougham will be teaching Tuesday Mornings guided reading, French and R.E.

Mrs Gargan will teach handwrining, computing and reading for pleasure on Wednesdays.

We do hope your child enjoys their time in Year Four.

Keep checking back on our page as we will be uploading regularly.

Remember our door is always open if you need us and no question is ever too small!

We hope you have fun on the Year Four learning journey!
