Year 4: Mrs Brougham 2021 - 2022

Mrs Brougham

Hello and welcome to our Year 4HB class page. Happy New Year and I hope everyone has had a break after a busy first autumn  term. I was really impressed with how well the children settled in to the new routines in year 4. We all worked hard and made some good progress. I was particularly impressed with the creativity shown by the children in art and DT.

We are looking forward to another busy half term where we will be learning more about fractions and consolidating our knowledge of multiplication in maths. We will be enjoying 'The BFG' and 'From a Railway Carriage' in guided reading, which the children are really looking forward to. In English, we will be using the texts 'There's a Rang-Tan in My Bedroom' and  'The Dark' to inspire our writing. We will also be looking again at 'Beowulf', which we read together in the autumn term. In science, we will be looking at electricity and the children will be carrying out lots of practical activities. In geography with Mrs Gargan, the children will continue to learn about Italy. This half term, we will complete our Vikings topic in history.

The children in year 4 have shown me that they are keen readers and many have worked hard to earn rewards for their dedication to reading at home. As last half term, children can change their books whenever they need to - they just need to remember to put their finished book in the box! We are also really eager to become confident with our times tables so we'll continue to dedicate lots of time to practising those both in school and at home.

There is a new homework adventure pyramid for the half term, which can be found both on this class page and in the homework area of the website.

This half term, our PE days will be Tuesday and Wednesday but it would be a good idea to keep a PE kit in school all the time.

Miss Farrell and I are really excited to welcoming you all back to school and seeing what we can all achieve  together in 2022.
